Suggested to have pre-scheduled presentations.
- Selecting a presenter by round-robin, random, voting? Decided on random, with a conversation with the willing presenter on the topic. Will announce the topic on the mailing-list in advance. Agreed.
Need structured leadership at this point? Decided against.
Changing date/time? Will look into this.
Home electrical use
Nick wanted some guidance about exploring electricity use by home appliances. Cory pointed him to a dataset on UCI. Talked about what kind of measurement granularity would be needed to disentagle appliances' usage.
Staying up on latest papers
arXiv has RSS feeds (and a Stats topic). R-Bloggers. Andrew Gelman's blog (lead developer on Stan language).
Some of these are like firehoses. How to filter through it? We could write a machine-learning algorithm to do that.... Cory might give this a shot and share.
Any interesting readings?
